Please join us April 27, from 10-5 for a SISTA Fire training “We Can Do This!: Busting Myths about Foundations, Grant Writing and Individual Donors”

Building relationships with foundations to resource a bold vision for your community may feel scary. But funding is much more about building relationships with foundation staff and knowing what makes their hearts sing than an application. Additionally, the process of grant writing could feel like a mystery to members, but it doesn’t have to be. Member-led groups have a responsibility to look for opportunities for members to provide leadership in every aspect of the organization, and grant writing brings together so many elements of the organization’s culture, plans and work that it is a key space for members to be involved in.

If you are ready to bust some myths and build some core skills, we invite you to this one-day interactive workshop. In this workshop we will explore:

— our own relationship to money and the narratives that guide this;
— reimagining narratives of abundance;
— how to identify foundations that would be champions for our work; and
— key elements of a strong proposal including some practice exercises.

The second half of the training will focus on developing an individual donor base, to diversify our funding streams. Building relationships with donors and prospects is one of the most important things that an organization can do to ensure fundraising success. Part art and part science, great donor cultivation relies on consistent activity, personalized communications, and an excellent strategy.

This training is co-facilitated by Nisha Purushotham and Ditra Edwards, it will take place at New Urban Arts on 705 Westminster Street. Please join us by signing up today!
